Chapter 1&2

I personally find chapter one is easier for me to answer. Thus I would like to define my long-term goal and short-term goal.

Long-term Goal
My final goal is make world better for my siblings and future children. This is not specific and very vague but I was/am thinking about it all the time. I believe that if children are happy, the world become happy. I am still thinking what exactly I can do. One thing that I am thinking is making over 90 percent of literacy rate in all countries around the world. Also, building libraries in developing countries would help people to know the world where they are live in. Reading gives a lot of chances to people. If they lean to read, and then read to learn, their worlds increase those horizons.

This is very big goal. Many people try to achieve it for years but the issue still remains. To increase literacy rate in developing counties, people not only to build school and give education to children, they need to change people’s mind, their cultures and customs. That is toughest thing and it takes several generations. However, even how tough it is, this is one thing that I want to do.

Short-term Goal
1)    Get good grade for exchange study.
2)    Join internship
3)    Get good grade for graduated school

Those three goals are goals I face now. Firstly, I have to get good grades on this spring term to apply as exchange student. Secondly, I would like to work with adults, and want to know how people apply their passion to their work. And lastly, I would like to learn developing study in graduated school, thus I need to good grade for it.

  3. Hi Yumi,

Great vision, and short-term goals. I especially like the line about learning to read and then reading to learn. Very nicely stated.

I wish you the very best in achieving such a lofty and noble goal.
